Admiralty,
7th June 1900.
Sir,
With reference to the 52 Non Commissioned Officers
and men of the Royal Marines who are now serving with
the Hong Kong Police Force, I am commanded by my Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the
information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies
that as these men have all less than 12 years' service
as Marines, the arrangement with regard to reokoning
time for their Naval pension is that they shall not be
entitled to count their Colonial service as qualifying
for such pension unless they return to the Corps three
years before they complete 21 years service.
As it is probable that there may be some who will
take advantage of this concession, it will be necessary
that they should be now informed that if still in
Colonial employment on the completion of 12 years from
the date of their enlistment in the Royal Marines, it
Secretary of State, will be requisite, if they desire not to lose their
Under
COLONIAL OFFICE.
